Valentine Blind Date

by maggie
(UK)

I was widowed many years ago and left with 5 children & 2 step children.I lived in the South of England and had been on my own for 7 years, when I met a Geordie- an englishman from the North of the UK Newcastle-upon-Tyne. After 18 months I moved up North to be with him and was devastated 5 years later when he left me. He'd spent every penny of mine and I was now going to be homeless as well. My children had left home by this time except for my youngest at 13 years old.
Luckily I had just applied for a new job and was successful enabling us to get a small house and gradually start to rebuild our lives.
My trust and faith were kept alive by his friends surrounding me with regular phone calls, visits and support. I also went out with them at least once a month to our regular social club but steered well clear of any kind of involvement. Just the odd dinner date. This was the way of it for nearly 5 years when one Tuesday morning I received a call asking me to go on a blind date on Valentines Day that saturday. This was an ex colleague of mine who now worked over the other side of the river and who had been asked if she knew any nice women. A girl in her office had described this guy that she knew who had been treated badly by the ex-he had even married her twice-and wanted him to meet someone! As for spending another Valentines Day on my own I decided to go for it. I thoroughly enjoyed our date amd we made another for the following weekend, he then said that a week was too long and we started to date every weekend and every Tuesday. We moved in together 14 months later and we are now coming up for our 7th anniversary on the next Valentines Day. He is everything I could ever want in a lover, my best friend and the kindest most loving human being I have ever met in my life!We still have a date every Tuesday, no phone calls, emails, or work, just us 2, nice meal, bottle of wine and romance!!!
